Bronze Expeditions

Crosslands

This hike is centred around Crosslands Camp Ground in the suburb of Hornsby. The hike will takestudents along a section of the Great North Walk along Berowra Creek.

In terms of difficulty, this journey is easy particularly when compared to some of our otherjourneys. This allows our instructors time to give participants a thorough grounding in the principles of navigation and camp craft.

Falconbridge to Springwood

Located in the beautiful lower Blue Mountains, this journey follows Glenbrook Creek and its tributaries.  A perfect introduction to your Duke of Edinburgh adventurous journey career. 

In terms of difficulty, this journey is easy particularly when compared to some of our other journeys.  This allows our instructors time to give participants a thorough grounding in the principles of navigation and camp craft. 

The Coast Walk

The Coast Walk follows our magnificent coast line through theRoyal National Park before climbing up to the top of the escarpment at Otford.  A truly spectacular coastal walk.

The expedition is by no means an easy hike with students required to walk a large distance on the first day.  The general feedback however, suggests that the journey is well and truly worth it.

Glenbrook to Springwood

Glenbrook - Springwood is located in the lowerBlue Mountains. This hike follows Glenbrook Creek before ascending and travelling along St Helena Crater and then following Magdala Creek to Springwood.

This expedition is not considered an easy walk, although it is a scenic walk which passes many of the tourist attractions within the park. The walk winds through some wonderful valleys, and various natural and historic features.


Silver Expeditions

Somersby to Patonga

Somersby is a small village located west of Gosford and where we meet to begin the Somersby - Patonga leg of the Great North Walk.  The hike passes through a wide variety of terrain from rainforest gullies to the sandstone plateau that surrounds theHawkesbury River before finishing in the fishingvillageofPatonga.

We specifically run both practice and qualifying expeditions separately at this location.  While the hike is essentially the same for both, while on practice expeditions our instructors will focus on teaching additional navigational skills including more detailed route planning and triangulation exercises.

Mount Victoria

This walk explores a fantastic section of the GroseValley. Starting aboveVictoria Falls, the walk explores the cascades before dropping into the valley for the first nights rest at Burra Korain campsite. The walk then heads down through the valley to theBlue Gum Forest before camping at Acacia Flats for the night. On the last day the walk heads up Govetts Creek, past Bridal Fallsand Govetts Leap, then follows Pope's Glen to the station. The distance each day allows time to stop, explore and enjoy the fantastic scenery.

It is a beautiful way to see a part of the Australian landscape that is not easily accessible and complete your qualifying adventures journey.

Hornsby to Cowan

This hike takes students on part of the Great North Walk along Berowra Creek and then to theHawkesbury River. Students will camp at Crosslands Reserve on the first night and then at a campsite with an amazing view overBerowraValleyon the second night, followed by a short walk into Cowan on the third day.

In terms of difficulty, this hike is moderate in difficulty, testing students map and compass, navigation and camp craft skills.

Gold Expeditions

Yarramalong

Yarramalong to Wondabyne Station takes in a significant section of the Great North Walk - a trail running from Newcastle to Sydney. The first 2 days of the journey is through the lush farming valleys located west of the Central Coast before traversing the sandstone rim that surrounds the Hawkesbury River at its mouth.

The hike finishes at Wondabyne Station, a quirky station on the northern banks of the Hawkesbury not accessible by road. This hike is a perfect way to hone your skills before taking on the challenge of your final Gold qualifying test hike.

Helensburgh

The Helensburgh Circuit Starts in the township of Helensburgh and makes its way through The Royal National Park. This wild place close to Sydney is a walker's park. See the beauty and diversity of the bush in this rocky reserve. In spring, Gymea lilies give a scarlet glow to the gullies.

Swim in hidden pools along the gorges. Feel the power of the Ocean on the magnificent coast line of Australia. This expedition is in an absolutely beautiful area to complete your Duke of Edinburgh’s adventurous journey career.

Kosciuszko

Discover the purity ofAustralia’s alpine areas as you challenge yourself to summit the 10 highest peaks on the mainland ofAustralia. This 5 day expedition requires students to navigate from The Collaroy Centre toCharlottes Pass and through Kosciusko National Parks MainRange.

Experience hiking above the tree line (withthe possibility of snow) and test your technical navigation skills with plenty of off -track hiking.

Tasmania

The Walls of Jerusalem National Park is located less than two hours from Launceston, right next to the well-knownLake St Clair National Park which has the popular Overland Track. This park is just as beautifulas its next door neighbours, without the crowds.

An absolutely fantastic place to walk where you will certainly be impressed by the tall cliffs, soft cushionplants, native needle pines, crystal clear lakes and tarns.A perfect way to complete the adventurous journeys component of your Duke’s award.

New Zealand

Take Advantage of completing both walks before the HSC year! Two walks over ten days while visiting New Zealand’s popular Arthur’s pass national park and the beautiful west coast.

These are two separate expeditions in different areas of the South Island. There is a travel day in between,give you a chance to spend relaxing and checking out New Zealand's local area.This is a perfect way to complete the adventurous journeys component of your Duke’s award.
